Understanding the biological principles of bone remodeling allows clinicians to explore vast possibilities in orthodontic mechanics. Thanks to advanced mechanics with mini-plates, a bone remodeling process is induced, mediated by the osteocyte network (mechanotransduction), enabling changes in bone design beyond traditionally known limits.
This makes it possible to correct malocclusions that in the past were only treatable with surgery. During this module, we will understand the biological process that takes place during bone changes promoted by orthodontic mechanics with skeletal anchorage, and the rationale behind the timing of mini-plate mechanics activation.
For orthodontists, surgeons and periodontists.

The course is divided into 9 modules, spaced every two months, where students dive into the concepts of Ertty Systems— from three-dimensional craniofacial diagnosis to advanced mini-plate mechanics. Throughout the program, we will dive into our team’s three-dimensional craniofacial diagnostic protocol, giving special focus to assessing condylar health and position via CBCT and MRI. This plays a pivotal role in achieving stable, long-term treatments. We will also explore the integration of treating temporomandibular muscular and/or articular dysfunctions alongside orthodontic and orthosurgical approaches. Additionally, students will grasp Dr. Ertty Silva’s NON-conventional Orthosurgical Preparation protocol, designed to minimize extractions and enable less invasive Lefort I Segmented surgeries. This involves comprehensive occlusal plane management through orthodontics, significantly reducing surgical time and prioritizing condylar health.
Starting from the second module, the learning gets hands-on as each student brings their own cases to clinical seminars. These sessions not only solidify knowledge from three-dimensional diagnosis but also provide the opportunity for students to apply mini-plate mechanics under the guidance of Dr. Ertty and the entire team. It’s a dynamic and practical approach to ensure students not only understand the concepts but can confidently apply them in real-world scenarios.
